AQGRI+ is a company operating in biobased sector by offering Business-in-a-Box of Aqgriponics (waste-to-values technology) consisting technology, business model, training modules, marketing materials, and financial options, to local agri-entrepreneurs in developing and emerging markets. AQGRI+ also offers consultancy service in technical and business development for waste recycling projects (e.g. wastewater management for agriculture, composting).Aqgriponics is a technology integrating Vermicomposting and Aquaponics in one system to maximise resources use efficiency and production per m2, generating 1) Vegetables, 2) Vermicompost, 3) Fish, 4) Worms, and 5) Compost tea, as end products. The innovation of the Aqgriponics technologies lies in the integration between the two proven technologies and the operational management behind the system to maximise resources use efficiency and production per m2.Aqgriponics uses 90% less water requirement than soil agriculture, as it is a closed-loop system. Aqgriponics produce vermicompost and compost tea in which their application improves soil fertility that reduces crop water demand and improves soil ability to uptake carbon (carbon sequestration) for climate adaptation and mitigation in agriculture, respectively. In addition, Aqgriponics system grows food under controlled environment and thus a climate resilient system as it is less dependent to climate variability. AQGRI+ offers the Box as a ready-for-use package to local agri-entrepreneurs so that they can set-up Aqgriponics business to optimise production per m2 and therefore their economic returns and make them less dependent to climate variability and adapt to resources scarcity.With this business concept, AQGRI+ became the Winner of the 1st place of International Climate Adaptation Business Challenge 2014 by Knowledge for Climate and the Top 6 Finalists of the World Bank Group Youth Summit 2015 by the World Bank.
