Computer Software - Champaign, Illinois, United States
Aqueous Solutions LLC develops, maintains, and supports The Geochemist's Workbench (GWB), and trains users in how to apply the software package. Geochemists from more than 60 countries around the world use the GWB to solve a range of problems in the aqueous geochemistry of Earth's hydrosphere and biosphere. Among other purposes, the software can be used to plot a variety of specialty diagrams, trace reaction processes, and compute reactive transport models. The GWB was developed over more than twenty years at the Department of Geology of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. In August 2011, the development team moved to an incubator facility in the Research Park at the University of Illinois. The GWB project became self-supporting at that point, financed entirely by end-user license fees. In January 2014, the company published release 10.0 of the software. The company now operates out of the M2 Building in Downtown Champaign.
