Electronic journalism was founded as a modern means of disseminating news in the modern world. It has gained professional status and has established new working relationships. It has organized unprecedented media rights. It has also added to the visual, written, and audiovisual media fields, through by using modern technology. While new forms of media are emerging and impacting existing Arab media, no organization or individual has yet to be successful in organizing the journalists in the field of electronic media. There have been some attempts and efforts exerted to realize this hope. Arab electronic journalists need multiple forms of support, in the form of a legitimate organization, to perform their challenging mission and to organizing their work so that they can collaborate. The organization will coordinate all activities for electronic journalism in the Arab world and will be considered the primary professional authority. It will bestow formal legitimacy for all workers in the field of electronic journalism. It will also defend rights and freedoms against any intellectual, political and professional persecution that electronic journalists might face during the performance of their mission. The organization also takes responsibility for the legal defense of its members on local, regional or international fronts. It will support the professional development of its members by offering courses in various fields in cooperation with other organizations. The Arab Union of Electronic Media establishes Cairo as its headquarters and proposes that other branches, adopting the same goals, be established in other Arab cities.
