Choreographic Centre Archauz® presents state-of-the-art European contemporary dance and is the first of its kind in Scandinavia.The purpose of Choreographic Centre Archauz is to diversify and integrate modern dance into the established arts of Aarhus, Central Region Denmark and Denmark in general. You'll find Archauz in the heart and cultural centre of Aarhus which is the second city of Denmark. More specifically, Archauz is positioned right next to Concert Hall Aarhus, the City Hall and the international famous ARoS Aarhus Kunstmuseum.The two venues A1 (200 seats) & A2 (70 seats) are the perfect set for the approximately one hundred sublime dance performances per year, produced by the best dance companies in the world. Apart from the AIR-programme (Artists in Residence) and co-productions, one fourth of the performances presented at Archauz are produced by the Choreographic Centres in-house company, Mancopy© Dansekompagni.As a centre of choreography and contemporary dance, the aims of Archauz are: - To diversify and add value to Danish culture.- To produce performances on a high international level in close collaboration with the in-house company, Mancopy Dansekompagni. - To represent the quintessence of scenic innovation as well as the development of modern dance.- To stimulate and strengthen the development and potential of modern dance.- To diffuse the knowledge of modern dance as an art form, and to render it more accessible.Together with the professional in-house company, Archauz offers artistic and educational activities for young dancers in Aarhus with the purpose of diffusing the knowledge of modern dance. The core of these activities is Archauz U-Kompagniet which provides young dancers from 13 to 21 years with the possibility of practicing the art of dance on a high artistic level.
