Civic & Social Organization - Atlanta, Georgia, United States
Based in Atlanta, GA, Argha Noah is an artist-run, pop-up civic engagement platform with a goal to change the way community spaces operate in cities. As Assistant Director of theproject, I designed, produced, and co-led a small team tobring numerous unique experiences to life. Producing over 20 events in 4 months, we averaged 75 attendees per event. Among these were Bike-In Movie Nights, a Sunset Music and Film Showcase, and the Dream City Fundraiser Dinner, where we collaborated with an olfactory artist and a holistic chef. We were featured on the front page of Georgia Tech University's newspaper, featured as the top weekly event in southern art publication Burnaway, and nominated for"Best New Pop-Up" in Creative Loafing's Best of 2017.Each edition of Argha Noah advances a holistic, inclusive model of cultural & technological exchange that imparts both practical knowledge and creative sustenance to a host community. In partnering with artists, city officials, and community stakeholders to create 21st century civic spaces, the Argha Noah model changes a region's development narrative from one based on developer profits, expedience, and non-native interests to one that upholds health, sustainability, and access to the arts as fundamental urban utilities.
