Each year outdoor air pollution causes 3 million deaths. Due to the increasing urbanization phenomenon they will increase by 50% in 2040. Anthropic activities contribute the most to lower air quality. The main causes are: vehicular traffic, domestic heating, industries, agricultural activities and natural events.Nowadays, several macro solutions are available to mitigate the effect of pollutants, i.e. wind energy, solar panels and carbon capture devices. Yet, these solutions are not able to solve the long-standing issue independently. To increase their effectiveness it is necessary to link them to the environmental microstructure.ARIA does that by providing real-time data about pollutants through a pool of proprietary sensors installed on mobile and fixed infrastructures in order to assess the air quality in the entire urban area. PM2.5 and PM10 measurements are integrated with other types of data, such as ground temperature, weather conditions and traffic flows. The analysis carried out by ARIA does not result only in the detailed and real-time measurements of air pollutants, but also in the recognition of their sources thanks to the integration of ML algorithms and fluid-dynamic models. ARIA offers important insights to public institutions and private companies. In particular, the data become truly valuable for municipalities investing on the right solution to improve air quality, as a basis for complex decision making under critical conditions, such as pollution peaks.
