ARIA (Antibiotic Resistance Inference Array) team is a Barcelona-based talented research group formed by 11 undergraduate students specializing in the fields of biomedical engineering and human biology from Universitat Pompeu Fabra. We are starting a highly prospective project that will be presented to a worldwide competition called 'International Genetically Engineered Machine' (iGEM), founded by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Our value proposal is finding an innovative solution to avoid the explosion of the upcoming antibiotic resistance pandemic. For that, we are merging two main disciplines: synthetic biology and artificial intelligence. Specifically, as pathogens rapidly develop new resistance capabilities, any static proposal will end up being overcome by the adaptability of the disease. That is why we propose a dynamic solution (see 2' spot at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qlk3oyXahR0) to beat pathogens at their own game: evolution.
