Arithmetica is a decentralized platform allowing mathematicians and scientists to create and contribute to volunteer computing projects. Volunteer computing is a type of computing in which computer owners or users donate their computing resources to one or more research projects.Mathematicians and scientists are able to define problems and simply distribute computation to volunteers. Similar distributed computing projects have existed such as Folding at Home, Search for Extraterrestrial Life (SETI), and the Search for Mersenne Primes. Unlike single use platforms Arithmetica provides a reusable framework allowing the computation of new and diverse problem sets.
