Arizona Land and Water Trust is a nationally accredited land trust working to preserve vanishing western landscapes in Southern Arizona. The Trust partners with private landowners and public organizations to protect open space and preserve Southern Arizona's ranching heritage.Since 1978 the Trust has protected over 60,000 acres of land in Southern Arizona through conservation easements and fee title acquisitions.In 2007, the Trust launched the Desert River Initiative, which is dedicated to enhancing riparian habitat in Southern Arizona. As the only water trust in Arizona, we work with farmers and ranchers to improve the health of perennial desert streams and sustain agricultural operations.The Trust received the 2016 National Land Trust Excellence Award from the national Land Trust Alliance, which represents more than 1,100 member land trusts and is supported by more than 5 million members nationwide. We are the only trust in Arizona - and, in fact, the lower Western states - to receive the award in the award's 10-year history.
