Education Management - Tucson, Arizona, United States
The Arizona Master Naturalist Program provides education, outreach and natural resource leadership services to a variety of stakeholders including, but not limited to, education entities, state and city government agencies, non-governmental organizations providing and participating in natural resource content, as well as private citizen groups. Arizona Master Naturalists will also participate in the stewardship of natural and cultural resources by participating in activities designed to do so. Arizona Master Naturalists will contribute to increased and evolving understanding of the region through participation in citizen science initiatives. The program is designed to educate volunteers in the basic knowledge of the natural history of their region of the state of Arizona. The training is undertaken to become a certified VOLUNTEER for the statewide program, rather than simply for the participant to gain extra knowledge about the natural resources of Arizona. If the participant is not willing to give back volunteer service, there are other wonderful natural history programs available from a host of organizations across the state. Our purpose as Certified Master Naturalists is also to educate the public, through providing unbiased information, about the natural history and the natural resources of Arizona, such that the citizens we teach are then able to make choices on their own regarding environmental issues. We are founded on the principles of Environmental Education as stated by the North American Association for Environmental Education. Our volunteer training program also provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities for volunteers to become leaders in the natural resource field.
