Arkana Perú is a creative research institute and intercultural centre situated in the Upper Amazon rainforest of Peru. Our mission it is to facilitate new methodologies in interdisciplinary research and creative collaboration across cultures. Our mission includes:• The development of innovative experience-based methodologies and creative research across the disciplines with a focus on both individual process and collective praxis.• Education about and preservation of indigenous knowledges, pedagogies and cultural practices including support for creative "participations" and learning opportunities between indigenous and nonindigenous communities.• Environmental custodianship and research and innovation in "relational" methods of living and community building.Arkana is also a leader in "conscious travel experiences," a social enterprise that works in collaboration with local artists and communities to host immersive journeys and retreats in the rainforest and surrounding rivers where travellers visit indigenous communities, learn about local cultural art practices, and give back through participating in socially driven projects with partner NGOS. Arkana Peru strives to embody the central mission of Arkana within an eco-tourism framework while creating a socially and economically viable infrastructure for the local artists and support for indigenous communities in Pucallpa and surrounding region.Status: Arkana is the developmental phase with the construction of the first buildings in August, 2016.
