MOHS micrographic surgery is a higly specialized procedure for the removal of skin cancer. The purpose of Mohs surgery is to remove all of the cancerous tissue and as little of the healthy tissue as possible. At this office it is performed by Dr. Charles Kennard, M.D. P.A. Dr. Kennard is a Fellow of the American College of Mohs Surgery, which is the most advanced level of training and experience recognized by that organization. He is also Board-Certified by the American Board of Dermatology.Dr. Kennard recieved his medical degree with honors from the University of Illinois College of Medicine, served an internship at the Mayo Clinic, and completed a residency in Dermatology at the University of Michigan. He served as a Fellow in Dermatologic Surgery and Oncology at the University of Iowa from 1990-1992. Dr. Kennard has been a faculty member of the University of Texas, San Antonio and the US Air Force dermatology residency program in San Antonio. He is currently a clinical assistant professor in dermatology at UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. Dr. Kennard has received several awards for research and scholarship in medicine and is the author of over 15 scientific articles and book chapters.
