The recently formed ARMA New England Chapter is the merger of the Boston and Connecticut Chapters. We are a group of individuals from ARMA International that are here to promote and advance Information Governance (IG) and Records and Information Management (RIM) in the NEW ENGLAND area. Today our membership stands at more than 200+ RIM professionals in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Rhode Island, and Maine. We are part of ARMA International, an organization of over 10,000 professionals in IG/RIM. We're dedicated to helping individuals, organizations and governments successfully meet the challenges of the increasingly complex records and information management field. Information Governance & Records and Information Management (RIM) is the systematic process of controlling the creation, use, maintenance, protection, and destruction of all types of recorded information. Professionals in the IG/RIM field are responsible for ensuring their companies/organizations have the proper information to support daily activities, meet legal requirements, and document their history. The rapid growth of technology has transformed RIM from one that concentrated primarily on the use and protection of paper and microfilm-based records to one that is highly involved in controlling and maintaining electronic information and its governance. Information is the life-blood of any company or organization. IG/RIM professionals know where the information is and how to ensure that it will be available when it is needed.
