Art by Kelly is the work of mixed media artist Kelly Brown. She is from Toledo currently living in Maumee, Ohio. Kelly graduated from the Columbus College of Art and Design with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree majoring in Illustration in 1996. She established a faux finish and mural business, Art by Kelly, in 2001. Kelly has done faux finish and mural work for numerous residential clients and local businesses. She apprenticed for a year in 2002 with Murals ‘n More in Toledo and then trained at the Martin Alan Hirsch Decorative Finishes Studio in Louisville, Kentucky in 2003, as well as at Patricia's Decorative Arts Studio & Academy in Dayton, Ohio in 2007.She won the 2005 Parade of Homes People's Choice Award. In 2008 she completed work at the Fat Fish Blue Home of the Funny Bone restaurant and comedy club in Perrysburg, Ohio at Levis Commons. She transformed the walls of El Tipico restaurant in South Toledo which underwent a major remodel in 2012. She has done extensive work in all three Carpets by Otto showrooms in Perrysburg, Holland, and Toledo. After years of working on full size walls hand painting gorgeous murals and faux finishes, she no longer does that kind of large scale work anymore and is happy to be refocused creating contemporary abstract artwork on wood panel, paper, and canvas. With a strong background in painting large scale faux finishes and murals, combined with a degree in illustration, and a passion for drawing from life, all of her mixed media artworks have energy and variety that blend everything together. Kelly gets her inspiration from an appreciation of nature, a passion to travel, and a tenacious approach to "pushing paint" and working from the heart. She loves to spend time with her husband Michael.
