Galleri Fold is Iceland's leading exhibition and auction house. Established in 1990, the present proprietors have owned Galleri Fold since 1992. In 1994, the gallery acquired its own premises at Raudararstigur 14, where it has since grown and flourished. The gallery now occupies a 600 m2 building with five exhibition spaces, ranging from 30 - 110 m2. Generally, Galleri Fold sells the work of over sixty of Iceland's best-known artists. The gallery also resells artworks on behalf of individuals and companies, both directly and at auctions. Therefore we always offer a wide range of quality artworks.There is no wider collection of Icelandic visual artworks.Galleri Fold holds monthly art auctions during the winter, which are generally well-attended. Approximately one hundred artworks are auctioned each time. Our auction catalogue is available in the gallery or at myndlist.is. An innovation in our operations is internet auctions, at uppbod.is. There you can bid for works that are only for sale on the internet, or submit advance bids for works to be sold at larger auctions.Galleri Fold can assess the value of artworks for individuals, companies, insurance companies and institutions. Our assessments are based on in-depth knowledge of the Icelandic art market and on current price levels for artworks, as reflected in a database maintained by the gallery, covering all auctions of artworks that have taken place in Iceland.Dozens of overseas visitors visit our gallery each week to acquaint themselves with the latest developments in the Icelandic art scene. We package artworks for export.In order to provide still better services for our clients, the gallery opened a framing workshop in 2001. It is fitted with the best available equipment and frames visual artworks for the gallery's artists as well as for its clients.
