In the Construction and Landscaping industry since 1974, I have come to love what I do and have had great people around me throughout the years. Working for City of Kelowna from 1974-1981. I developed a real passion for the work we did. Transforming a bare piece of land into a beautiful park gave me gratification and a true sense of accomplishment. I enjoy seeing my work 20 –30 years later; the beauty it still holds and the joy it brings others is incredibly fulfilling.After leaving The City of Kelowna I opened and sold a series of Companies including Terra, Sierra and now Arterra.With operations in the Okanagan and also outside of the Okanagan area, as per the non-competition agreement from the sale of Terra. Sierra worked primarily in Southern British Columbia, however we completed several jobs throughout Nothern and Southern BC. Our projects varied from small residential landscapes to large commercial landscapes, including downtown revitalization's, mine reclamation work, parks, sports fields and road building. These projects ranged from $10,000 to $1.5 million.Sierra Landscaping Ltd grew from a few men to over 100 employees during the construction boom from 2004 to 2010,when Sierra was sold to its current owners. I remained as a part of the team for one year to assist in tendering and management.In 2013, I made the decision to return to the landscaping industry. Since the creation of Arterra Ltd, we have completed several road building projects in conjunction with Peters Brothers Paving, Cantex Okanagan, Westlake Paving and the District of Coldstream.We were recently awarded the Rails with Trails project in November of 2013 by the City of Kelowna and expect to complete this project by Spring 2014.We are extremely excited about the future in the construction industry in British Columbia, specifically within the Okanagan. We look forward to being a part of the Industry and meeting old friends and making new ones.
