ArtHouse – Connected Every Step of the WayHistory - since 2009 ArtHouse has engaged over 9,500 vulnerable young kids by providing 661 Neighbourhood and Community Programs, delivered at 90 Subsidized Housing locations, Cooperatives, Community Hubs and in collaborative partnerships with front-line Agencies throughout Halton.Mission - ArtHouse is a Halton based charitable organization that provides FREE arts-based programs for children and youth age 7-17 who have little or no access to fee-related activities. We nurture the wellbeing of the Whole Child every step of the way – unconditionally – in an atmosphere that is supportive and safe.Purpose - to deliver consistent, safe programming with strong role-model relationships. In addition to our Arts-related Programs, our work includes homework help, cooking, gardening, environmental education and maybe just a great conversation. ArtHouse is often the child's only extra-curricular activity and, we may well be the only outsider with whom they feel truly comfortable.Adapting to Covid - in late March 2020 we initiated an emergency food program that kept us in touch with our families while we transitioned to virtual programming. The need for food continued and thanks to four local Restaurants, Wellington Square Church in Burlington and Food For Life, we have been able to provide over 100 families with freshly prepared weekly dinners – today a total of 3,500 meals. ArtHouse Programs – in late May 2020, in addition to 25 ArtHouse You-tube Arts Educational Videos, we launched our Virtual Programming – over the past 14 months, we have reached 506 participants with 27 Zoom Programs. From Visual Arts to musicals to cooking and environmental offerings, attendance and retention have been high.Throughout Covid, our kids and their families have invited us into their lives – they trust us and know that we will continue to support their mental well-being however we can. We care – we care a lot.
