Income-generation projects by Burmese and Burmese minority groups living in Thailand. Women artisans are located in border towns such as Mae Sot, Mae Sai, Sangkhlaburi as well as in refugee camps. Base of operations is in Mae Sot.Many artisans arrived due to lack of economic opportunities in their home country, but many also came due to persecution and violence. In Thailand, they can receive education and vocational training. After setting up a more stable living situation, these women hope to earn an income from combining traditional techniques they learned in Burma with modern styles that appeal to current shoppers.
