Renewables & Environment - Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India
Artison is on a mission to replace timber and fight climate change. We wish to achieve this target by making World Class Furniture and Pre-Fabricated Houses. The Artison story begins in 1864. Dietrich Brandis, the father of Indian forestry, in 1864 stated that Bambusa bambos is the most suitable replacement for timber. Interestingly, Bambusa bambos is the only species of bamboo that Artison uses. It is the World's highest density bamboo. With our mission in mind and belief in Brandis, Artison has built the World's 1st Process Engineered Bamboo Board (PEBB) furniture factory in Madhya Pradesh, India and the World's 1st Process Engineered Bamboo Board (PEBB) based home. Processed Engineered Bamboo Board (PEBB) is more durable than teak and stronger than steel. Furthermore, it is termite proof, waterproof and fire retardant. Apart from replacing timber, Artison seeks to double farmer's income by fueling a bamboo revolution in India. We procure Bambusa bambos from 30,000+ farmers. The plantation of Bambusa bambos is done in the agro-forestry model. Infact, farmers plant seedlings from Artison's very own nursery and Artsion signs a 40 year guaranteed buy-back contract. Going a step further, Artison also shares 24% of its profits as a bonus with farmers annually. This revolution of Artison is inclusive of all stakeholders and the bamboo revolution started by Artison in India will soon reverberate around the world.
