artslabour is a not-for-profit community arts association has formed with a commitment to foster, support and promote artists throughout Queensland. The formation of artslabour was inspired by Michelle McJannett who first floated the idea of bringing together like-minded friends around this innovative endeavour. "I realised I knew so many artists and per chance a family friend happened to be a successful art gallery owner. The idea of bringing them together and providing a platform to promote art throughout Queensland just blossomed," said Michelle McJannett. "Pete Martin, Director of Martin Galleries, without hesitation committed to the artslabour concept and mentoring emerging artists," said Michelle. "What excites us is that we could make a real success of this and end up with an arts awards program to rival the Archibald. Our very own State of Origin!" We would love to hear from organisations and businesses interested in an acquisitional arts program. Let's keep arts alive in Queensland." said Michelle McJannett
