For centuries it has been the "norm" to push your staff to their limits, demand only the best, watch closely to record when they're coming and going and on top of all that, constantly micromanaging them because you don't trust anyone. These actions were considered necessary in order to turn a profit and make your business a successful one ("if you want something done right you have to do it yourself").But here's a thought... What if an employer was to motivate their staff simply by supporting them and rewarding their hard work in ways that benefit and are appealing to their team? To build a relationship where everyone works together as a team and trusts each other to manage their own workload and manage it well. There are many organisations out there that are already pioneers in this area and it is proving (successfully) to be the way of the future. With a focus of putting your people first, this motivates your team to do their best work for you and join you in working towards the success of your business. There is no reason why everyone can't enjoy going to work; obviously some jobs are more interesting than others but the workplace culture can always be positive and enjoyable no matter what industry you're in. If you can motivate your team to actually want to go to work then that means they're happy in their job and happy to work for you. In my mind this encourages people to do their best work. If your team respects you, they will not want to let you down and will work hard to maintain your respect. There are a variety of new and interesting initiatives being thought up in order to support the cognitive wellness of employees and our contribution is by incorporating colouring into the workplace.
