APIX is the association of Internet Exchange Points in the Asia Pacific Region. It serves as a forum for Internet Exchange Points to exchange experiences.APIX members meet twice a year, at the APNIC Conference and Members meeting.The first meeting is thus always at APRICOT (www.apricot.net) following the tradition of APNIC meetings being hosted at APRICOT.Also APIX conducts an open and neutral peering forum named "Peering Asia", in order to encourage more peering in Asia Pacific region.Currently 33 IXPs(Internet Exchange Points) from 18 economies of Asia Pacific Region are members of APIX. These IXPs work in close coordination with APIX in ensuring best policies, framework, technical Infra of Internet Exchange points are in place.APIX serves in larger interest of Internet and makes community aware of the role of Internet Exchange points in areas like localization of Internet Traffic, Availability of Internet with optimal latency & speed and in turn easy reachability of Internet to masses within the country.APIX steering committee members are representatives from IXPs of different economies. APIX recently constituted its SC members in March 2021 whose tenure is two years. Every 2 years new Steering Committee is elected through elections.APIX also works with forums like EURO-IX(https://www.euro-ix.net/en/) and IGF( https://www.intgovforum.org/) for consultation and coordination of best IXP policies, practices and technology forums.
