Objective: "School on Internet Governance for Asia Pacific" (APSIG) intends to serve organizers and speakers of global, regional and local Internet Governance Forums (IGFs) in Asia Pacific through professional courses on the Internet governance initially. Additionally, we will serve event participants of over ten regional and local Internet governance organizations in Asia Pacific. There are around 1.5 billion Internet users in Asia Pacific out of 3 billion globally. There are around 10,000 participants to global, regional and 10 or more local IGFs/SIGs in Asia with around 1,000 or more organizers and speakers in these IGFs/SIGs. There are around 100 to 150 Internet governance leaders (APrIGF MSG, APSIG Discuss Grouop, ISOC chapter leaders, and so on.). APSIG could cover only 15 to 30 participants per school. Thus, we had better focus on these 100 to 200 Internet governance leaders (organizers and speakers), then on around 10,000 participants to local IGFs/SIGs together with local SIGs. We also try to develop open courseware through which we would like to support local SIGs/IGFs to train their 10,000 or more participants. Scope: - Develop professional courses on the Internet governance through open process, - Open SIG Courseware Development: Archive video recording of lectures, and presentation materials for public access, - Support development of localized courses, and - Collaborate with the relevant organizations including other regional schools on Internet governance.
