Who we areThe Asian American Society of Central Virginia is a non-profit charitable 501(c)(3) organization established in 1998 to promote unity, harmony, and diversity in the Central Virginia Region. Through various cultural celebrations and active participation in various community events and initiatives, AASoCV raises awareness and recognition of Asian heritage and promotes cultural diversity in the region.The Asian American Society of Central Virginia promotes, strengthens and enhances relationships among the Asian communities as well as the Central Virginia Region by creating awareness and understanding of Asian American interests through leadership and advocacy. The AASoCV welcomes membership from other Asian communities to join and strengthen the Asian American community in Central Virginia. AASoCV shall promote and sponsor civic, business, cultural and educational programs and activities that shall further the following:LEADERSHIP: AASoCV has actively nominated candidates for Leadership Metro Richmond's Flagship program, and is proud to have sponsored over 15 LMR alumni • Has had a current or former Board of Trustee member appointed to the Virginia Asian Advisory Board to the Governor since the VAAB's inception • Is a founding sponsor and organizer of the Annual Asian Legislative Day • Hosts the Annual Asian American Gala to recognize local Asian and non-Asian community leaders.CULTURAL: AASoCV has hosted the Asian American Celebration since 1998 • AASoCV partners with our member communities in their community events • CIVIC: Partners with the American Red Cross in Disaster Preparation and Management; Partnered with Hands-On Greater Richmond since its inception;EDUCATIONAL: Provided scholarships to local public school students; sponsored scholarships for member communities' art and scholarship awards.HEALTH & SPORT: Hosted the AASoCV Health Fair;
