ATH The Hispanic Theological Association (Asociación Teológica Hispana - ATH), was established in 1974 by an initiative of the Nationally known accrediting agency, ATS (Association of Theological Schools). As they called Hispanic evangelical leaders from Southern California to study the needs of theological education in the Hispanic community of the United States. As a result, ATS formed the Regional Hispanic Committee of the Pacific in Southern California in order to encourage Hispanic theological education programs within accredited Seminars. The Committee was composed of presidents of Seminars, denominational leaders, Bible Institutes and teachers of these institutions. This stage achieved for the first time in history, the cooperation of several institutions such as Fuller Theological Seminary, Claremont School of Theology, and Azusa Pacific University. In 1981 the Committee was reorganized and incorporated into the State of California as the Hispanic Association for Theological Education (AHET). In 2003, the institutional membership, in an extraordinary meeting unanimously resolved to adopt the name of Hispanic Theological Association (ATH). Today, more than fourty years later, ATH continues its mission to foster Hispanic theological education in the United States and in the global environment. MISSION ATH, founded in 1974 under an initiative of ATS (Association of Theological Schools), is the pioneer society dedicated to promote Hispanic theological education in the United States. As an organization, the Association offers its members opportunities for, networking support, professional development, and spiritual, intellectual, and educational growth. Thus, fostering theological education in the Hispanic community.
