ASSAF – Aid Organization for Refugees and Asylum Seekers in Israel – promotes the welfare and rights of asylum seekers in Israel by providing advocacy services, emotional and social support for asylum seekers at the individual and community levels while engaging in macro-level advocacy to change public discourse and official Israeli policy. ASSAF advances a socially just, inclusive society in which asylum seekers in Israel can live with dignity and security, including legal status and access to basic human rights and socioeconomic services. Since 2007, ASSAF has been the central Israeli organization offering support and programs for the most vulnerable members of the asylum-seeking communities, including individuals with physical or mental disabilities, youths, victims of torture and human trafficking, single mothers, and more. At ASSAF we:· Provide welfare and social services to families and individuals.· Run a welcoming Information and Support Center where refugees can receive support of varied kinds: from practical information to sharing their troubles and a shoulder to cry on.· Operate a Youth Center where 50 girls and boys are given a safe haven where they can enjoy leisure activities, help with their studies and a warm meal.· Advocate for refugees' rights.Our Vision: A dignified and secure life for all asylum seekers and refugees in Israel, including protection, economic and social rights and access to services insuring these right, and a legal status authorized by statute. Our Mission: The organization will provide psychosocial aid in various intervention areas and will leverage its performance by a partnership with the communities of the asylum seekers, in order to change the public discourse and the official Israeli policy.
