Assistance League® of Atlanta is part of Assistance League, a national, nonprofit, volunteer community service organization that helps children and adults in need cope with difficult situations and get a fresh start. Through our philanthropic programs we provide clothing, goods and scholarships to those in need. Assistance League distributes its goods and services through school counselors, crisis workers, community and social agencies, and local colleges and universities. In 2007, the all-volunteer organization in Atlanta provided: • clothing to thousands of needy school children • child-safe cuddly bears to comfort frightened children during crisis situations • newborn and bereavement layette packages to mothers in need • new rehabilitation-friendly clothing to spinal injury patients for physical therapy • essential household and personal care items to homeless and abused children and adults • need-based scholarships to deserving students in post-high school institutions
