Nonprofit Organization Management - Limbe, Southwest, Cameroon
The Association for the Protection of Women's and Children's Rights (APWCR) is a human rights development organization founded in 1999 and headquartered in Limbe, Cameroon. Founder George Abang Tawoh was moved to start the organization after witnessing countless human rights abuses within his own community, particularly the pervasive practice of forced marriage. Through the practice of forced marriage, young girls and women are often married to older men in order to pay off a family debt. This was the case for Mr. Abang Tawoh's beloved aunt. APWCR seeks to serve all of Cameroon, but currently serves in the South West, Littoral, North West and Central Regions of Cameroon. We specifically target the most vulnerable communities and populations, including rural women, teenage mothers, children, female students who have dropped out of school, and commercial sex workers. However, we believe our programmes truly benefit the entire community-- men, women and children alike.
