The Association of Democratic Women of Tunisia (ATFD) is an independent feminist organisation based in Tunis, which defends women's rights and aims at achieving equality among genders. Its actions focus on the eradication of violence against women and on the promotion of women's sexual, economic, social and cultural rights. The main objectives of the organisation are:• The elimination of all forms of discrimination against women• The development of Tunisian legislation that promotes gender equality• Transformation of patriarchal social norms• Women's empowerment through a solidary fight for their rights• Women's active participation in public sphere and politicsThe main projects of the organisation are focused on:• Women's education and sensitization• Women's labour rights, focused on women who lost their employment due to trade union militancy or for reasons of sexual harassment• Fight against domestic violence and sexual harassment• Fight for women's right to equal inheritance, sexual rights and rights related to motherhood• Development of healthcare system for the vulnerable working women, who are not covered by social insurance
