We believe that architecture should be rooted in its place, resisting the temptation to construct thin-skinned abstract buildings, instead favouring architecture that are perceived slowly over time, has been designed in close collaboration of its user that ultimately enriches an emotional content to the architecture. Our work is informed by an on-going dialogue with the research we undertake, with the history we study, and the places we visit, this helps to bring an accumulated richness of expression to our work. Ideas are elaborated in a manner of model making that engage directly with the built environment and embrace the sense of spatial materiality from the outset. Carefully situating buildings, so that they respond to their context we value the humble and everyday as well as the more celebrated moments in the architecture. Generating the form from its context rather than allowing a programme to dictate the architecture. Models are used to careful refine spaces, details and distill ideas to create the appropriate atmospheres needed. Our exteriors respond sensitivity to their settings, while our interiors have an atmosphere that is specific and appropriate to their purpose.
