Designersoperate across the whole economy and design has a direct andindirect positive effect on it.The annual Atlanta Design Festival is an open platform, ideal forfostering international dialogue on the economic and social impact ofdesign. It provides connection, the free exchange of knowledge,design thinking and community building. Each year the Festivalbrings together independent designers, established brands, youngtalent, international speakers from academia, NGOs and governmententities, exhibitions, installations, and architecture tours – allcentered on the economic and societal impact of design. We definethis activity as ‘the design economy' – the direct and indirect valuecreated by those who use design in a wide variety of industries.
