Atlanta Freedom Bands Details
Atlanta Freedom Bands is a 501c(3) non-profit artistic organization that represents Atlanta's gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered community through music. Since 1993, AFB has appeared in concerts, parades, neighborhood festivals, benefits and other activities across the metro Atlanta area and the Southeast region. AFB has several musical ensembles under its roof: a marching band, a concert band, the MetroGnomes stage band, and ad-hoc groups like a brass quintet and a woodwind quartet.AFB is a member of the Lesbian and Gay Band Association, which has member bands in cities across the world. AFB members have attended events such as the 1997 and 2009 Presidential Inaugurations, Gay Games in Amsterdam, Sydney and Chicago, and annual conferences in a number of cities.AFB draws members from across the metro Atlanta area and welcomes talented musicians regardless of sexual orientation.
