Green Bay Converting and its partners acquired the Augusta Select Tissue mill in Augusta, Georgia in 2007 to provide paper to the converting operations of GBC and GBC's allied operations of Hattiesburg Paper Company. The Augusta Select Tissue mill (AST) is a 20 acre paper mill site in Augusta, Georgia that is comprised of a new Metso DCT 100 (105" dry-crepe crescent former tissue machine) and an established pulping and de-inking operation. GBC and GBC's allied companies have invested heavily in the Augusta Select Tissue Mill (AST) to enhance the legacy pulping operation and further enhance the new tissue mill. These efforts have resulted in the consistent production of high-quality pulp made from recycled fiber and the production of bath tissue, napkin and toweling grades of sanitary tissue that meets or exceeds accepted industry standards for sheet formation, basis weight consistency and tensile strength.Through the acquisition of the Augusta Select Tissue, GBC has ready access to the parent rolls of bath tissue, towel and napkin stock the company needs to serve its customers finished products needs. GBC's customers can take comfort in the fact that GBC can source the paper its customers need to grow from its own operations and further that this source is known for its consistency and cost-effectiveness.
