Austin Fashion Initiative (AFI) actively supports the development of the Austin fashion industry through network development, cross-industry collaboration, and infrastructure planning and coordination.The Austin Fashion Initiative hosts events for professionals participating in the local fashion economy and related, intersecting industries and sectors. Using a wholistic perspective, AFI works to solve immediate business challenges, providing alignment with long-term visionary development of the local fashion industry, leveraging Austin's unique assets and integration into the global economy.The Austin Fashion Initiative was founded in April 2017 by Jennifer E.S. Millspaugh who completed her PhD at the University of the Arts London -- London College of Fashion on the brand development and internationalization practices of entrepreneurial designer fashion enterprises in London and New York. Her research defines the 'birth of the brand' for emerging fashion designers, connecting the development of brand identity to entrepreneurial resources and capabilities to product development lifecycles. She is now turning her attention to her home of ATX, to support start-ups, entrepreneurs and emerging fashion enterprises turn great ideas into amazing businesses.
