The Australasian Birth Trauma Association (ABTA), is a not-for-profit organisation, established in 2016 to support women and their families who are suffering from physical and /or psychological trauma resulting from the birth process. At ABTA we believe that the immediate family of women experiencing birth-related trauma (both fathers and children) should be included in early and appropriate intervention to effectively identify and treat the condition. Our mission is to reduce the instances and impact of birth trauma whilst supporting affected women, families and health professionals. Our objectives are to;- Advocating an Australia-wide emphasis on pre & postnatal psychological and physical wellbeing- To expand the partnerships with health professionals and government bodies- To instigate and support research to help advise health professionals on current and successful approaches to identifying and handling birth trauma. - To value and pledge to improve the long-term wellbeing of the mother and families of those affected by birth trauma.
