The Institute mission is to pursue the following charitable purpose(s) via local, national, and global partnerships to:• raising public awareness regarding the importance of overturning the illegal military junta that has taken over control of the government of Myanmar.• provide educational and vocational support to the Burmese community locally, nationally, and globally through strategic partnerships and advocacy.• educating the public regarding the importance of ending crimes against humanity committed by the military junta in Myanmar through talks, discussion groups, the publication of papers and articles, and any other legal means.• ensuring that the Australian government is an advocate for the return of the legitimate democratically elected government of Myanmar based on its obligations arising from the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by raising public awareness and stimulating public and parliamentary debate.• offering any assistance possible to the people of Myanmar in supporting the Civil Disobedience Movement.• lobbying the international community and in particular, the United Nations (UN) to denounce the military junta in Myanmar and convince the UN to provide a United Nations peacekeeping force in Myanmar under the banner of the Responsibility to Protect (R2P).• support the application of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in Myanmar.• raise funds to assist in the pursuit of democracy, human rights, and peace in Myanmar.• Lobby all levels of government in Australia, as well as the international community, to encourage advocacy and support for democracy, human rights, and peace in Myanmar.• raise public awareness and educate the Australian and international community about the situation in Myanmar.To respect the civil and political rights of individuals, including the right to life, freedom of religion, freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, electoral rights and rights to due process and a fair trial in Myanmar.
