AustStab was established in 1995 to help provide a unified approach to the stabilisation and recycling of road pavements and to develop national standards of research and performance.We focus on creating sustainable roads for future generationsOur objectives are to:- promote the benefits of pavement stabilisation and recycling- set national standards of performance- assist and coordinate research, and- educate and train people in the industry.Working with industryAustStab has been instrumental in bringing together the experience of road authorities, contractors, consultants and suppliers to develop unified specifications and design and construction methods. The pavement stabilisation and recycling industry has developed under the stewardship of AustStab to become a sophisticated pavement management process undertaken by specialised plant and equipment. Modern processes are capable of the full range of pavement stabilisation and recycling, including deep-lift construction, and can deliver a range of benefits to pavement design and road maintenance engineers.AustStab continues to collaborate across the industry with particular focus on the needs of state road authorities and local government, working with interested parties to:- develop specifications- provide training courses- undertake research- publish technical guidelines, and- set quality standards of workmanship.Quality AssuranceAustStab provides independently assessed assurance of quality through an accreditation scheme in collaboration with the ARRB Group. The AustStab/ARRB accreditation system focuses on ensuring pavement stabilisation and recycling works are carried out to best practice.
