#AuthenticInstas is a social media movement that focuses on promoting posting unedited and realistic photos while shining a light on the media and how they often set forth unrealistic or unattainable beauty standards. Inspired by founder Maggie Whittemore's own struggle with Body Dysmorphic Disorder, this initiative looks at photos before and after they have been edited to understand how tools like Photoshop and Facetune create an unrealistic standard of beauty, creates exercises that will help boost your self-esteem and confidence, to help you be your best self, and creates an environment of authenticity to come together to the only post real and unedited photos online.
