Autism Society, Newfoundland & Labrador (ASNL) is a provincial charitable organization dedicated to promoting the development of individual, lifelong, and community-based supports and services for people with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), their families, and caregivers.Our vision is a province where people with ASD and their families are respected, and where they receive services and supports based on their individualized differences, needs and preferences.ASNL currently operates four regional offices around the island in Corner Brook, Grand Falls-Windsor, Clarenville and St. John's, along with three volunteer chapters in Marystown, Trinity-Conception-Placentia area and the Northeast Avalon. At the Elaine Dobbin Centre we offer programming options for individuals with ASD and their family members. These programs include Transitions, Social Thinking, Adult Leisure, Social Club, and community-based Therapeutic Recreation. Across the province, we strive to be an informative resource for those interested in learning more about ASD, and have a wide range of materials available at our regional offices.ASNL is active in awareness raising, advocacy and outreach across the province for all individuals and families affected by ASD.ASNL also operates two social enterprises that give opportunity and work experience to people on the autism spectrum.The Pantry Cafe and Catering is a full-service cafe and catering operation and ASNL's flagship social enterprise. The Pantry Cafe was initially geared toward skills development, training and public autism awareness. All profit from the operation goes back into delivery of ASNL's programs, services and supports. Frequent job shadowing throughout the year assist various ASNL employment programs. Good Roots Gardening, ASNL's second social enterprise, grows produce in garden beds and ASNL's greenhouse for The Pantry Cafe, sells flowers and plants to the community, and waters indoor plants at local workplaces.
