E-learning - Geneva, Geneva, Switzerland
Ayaru helps universities and companies to integrate online learning and research. Massive Open Online Research Exercises (MOOREs) are real research activities that are integrated into online courses such as MOOCs. Participants are invited to add tags, annotate, decipher, analyse, classify or complete large databases of documents. By engaging in research, learners better understand the theoretical concepts seen in the course. They are hands-on with real data, and better understand how to enrich that data. In a world where "post-truth" is gaining traction, critical thinking, complex problem solving, and ethical and scientifical awareness all are becoming crucial skills. Above all else, doing real research and potentially making discoveries is so much more exciting than filling out a multiple-choice questionnaire!Unlike traditional citizen science participants, e-learners acquire a solid base of knowledge on the course subject. Researchers therefore benefit from the input of strongly motivated and knowledgeable people who can tackle advanced research topics.Ayaru was co-created by the University of Geneva and MMOS.
