The founders Ayllu Community Network are of Aymara Indigenous heritage and are basing their social enterprise on their traditional model of sustainability. "Suma Qamaña" is the Aymara concept of living in wellness interconnected with one another and with nature. The "Ayllu" is the grassroots level of the Indigenous Andean Community system, used both in Quechua and Aymara. Each Ayllu is formed of multiple families that work together in sustainable reciprocity, "Ayni." Ayllu Community Network cultivates and develops communal self-sufficiency and disaster preparedness. We do this to promote independence and sovereignty.Ayllu will function as a sustainable model of food sovereignty, eventually connected to a larger community network of reciprocity. From this model we will hold in person classes to teach self sustainability and disaster response skills in accordance with the NIMS disaster system. This will support local community resilience in times of emergency, as well as a long-term Indigenous model of sustainable living. Our hope is to prepare people for national emergency situations in order to mitigate chaos and increase overall survivability.
