Backcountry Lifeline's mission is to provide mountain bike riders, racers, and event organizers with the training, tools, and resources they need to both ride safely in the backcountry, and be able to respond effectively if an emergency situation occurs. Founded in the late Summer/Fall of 2015, the organization launched in the Spring of 2016.Backcountry Lifeline was conceptualized by three endurance racers and first responders (Heidi Dohse, Flynn George, Matt Hightower), and myself, in memory of my fiancé Will Olson. Will died on August 1, 2015, when competing in a Big Mountain Enduro/Enduro World Series race in Crested Butte, CO.
