Bad Idea is inspiring entrepreneurial spirit through the celebration of creativity and innovation!Bad Idea is an accredited enterprise and personal development programme. It takes the form of an enterprise competition designed to inspire entrepreneurial spirit, creativity and innovation. The methodology has been developed to tackle socio-economic obstacles that deter disadvantaged young people from attempting self-employment, helping to tackle the significant inequalities in Scottish society. It has also been designed to uncouple academic assessment from creative and entrepreneurial flair. The programme evolved as part of Glasgow's approach to promoting youth entrepreneurship. Through the European Union URBACT Programme ‘My Generation at Work', Bad Idea has been established in Scotland and the concept is being transferred to other cities in Europe.By pursuing an entrepreneurial project we develop the soft-skills necessary to realise goals and objectives. The participants exponentially develop their enterprise awareness, employability skills and resolve to take action and instigate change. Bad Idea empowers individuals with the confidence and self-belief to take control of their own lives. Our programme contributes to making young people successful learners, confident individuals, effective contributors and responsible citizens. We aim to give young people the best start in life and are ready to succeed. The programme is accredited by Glasgow University and adds value to participants as they receive formal acknowledgment of their new skills and understanding. Work has begun on a digital resource that will enable participants to co-create, collaborate and exchange knowledge in a virtual community, improving the life chances of young people whilst contributing to building strong, resilient, and supportive communities. - there's no such thing as a Bad Idea!
