Museums - Bainbridge Island, WA, US
The Bainbridge Island Historical Museum is a nonprofit organization located in Bainbridge Island, a short ferry ride from Seattle. Each year, some 13,000 visitors come from around the world to experience our award-winning exhibits which illustrate the Island's past as a lumber and shipbuilding powerhouse, and then as an important center for strawberry farming. We tell the story of the forced removal of the Island's large Japanese American population during WWII, the first of some 120,000 people to be incarcerated in internment camps. We provide a year-round educational program for Island youth and for visiting groups. We are open 7 days a week from 10AM-4PM and we are FREE to the public!
