Baker's Home started with Estelle Baker and the vision she had to keep aging people off the streets and help and the community as much as she could.Baker's Home was first located at 230 Bracy Street when Estelle was the only one there to take care of the few residents she had. As the years went on the business grew from six residents to 26 residents and moved to 204 Morton Street with the help of her children Claudette Jones, Peggy Scott, and Clarence Baker. Now Baker's Home has two licensed nurses supervising the CNA staff that is on site 24 hours a day. Estelle would later receive the name "Ma Baker" due to the mother of the community presence she had. Just before her untimely death she received Ma Baker's day at a local church were community and local political leaders joined together to praise her life.
