Post-graduate engineering studies are a fantastic journey of self development. Unfortunately the experience can also be extremely stressful when attempted without proper guidance and support. My affiliation with the North-West University allowed me the opportunity to mentor students (18+ post-graduates studies) through the thought process of developing ideas into academic outputs. I strive not just to support the academic work, but also holistically look at the person as an unique entity beyond their studies. The ultimate goal is ensure that the entire student remains stable and happy throughout the entire process. I believe that this approach not only delivers quality academic work, but also helps to develop the student into a well balanced professional person. Some of our Masters and PhD work:-Analytical control valve selection for mine water reticulation systems-Implementing DSM interventions on water reticulation systems of marginal deep level mines-A systems engineering approach to improve the measurement and verification process of energy services companies-Reconfiguring mining compressed air networks for cost savings-Verification procedures to ensure consistent energy measurements-Maintenance procedures on DSM pumping projects to improve sustainability-Investigating the Effect of Pump Availability on Load Shift Performance-Structuring mining data for RSA Section 12L EE tax incentives-A structured approach to select energy efficiency incentives applicable to industry-A practical approach to quantify RSA Section 12L EE tax incentives for large industry-Evaluating the feasibility of the 12L tax incentive for energy intensive industries-Practical approach to quantify carbon tax in South Africa-Strategy to identify and prioritise risks of carbon tax in South Africa-A structured approach to selecting models for 12L calculations-A systems approach to monitoring RSA Section 12L energy efficiency tax incentive applications
