Band of Rescuers North Yorkshire (BORNY) came about when a number of animal loving individuals came together to form a team, helping animals in need within the community in various different ways. In 2015 it was decided that to gain some much needed support from the wider community we needed to set up a public platform for sharing our work, it was then that BORNY as we know it today was born. We are based in North Yorkshire but our work often takes us to other areas of Yorkshire and beyond.What is unique about BORNY is that instead of a cattery-based setup, we have a network of foster carers in and around York who welcome into their homes these abandoned, stray or neglected felines, where they can be given the TLC they deserve. Once back to full health and given the green light from the vets, the BORNY team find forever homes for the cats where they can begin their second chance at life. The charity is supported by other invaluable volunteers who help with fundraising, transport and home visits. We rely solely on public donations and all monies raised go directly towards helping cats and kittens in need. Without this support we would not be able to continue the vital work we do.Our aims and objectives:-To protect unwanted, homeless, neglected, abused and injured felines.-To facilitate the rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing of cats and kittens and work to keep feral colones controlled using a trap, neuter, release programme; re-homing any feral kittens once socialised if suitable.-To prevent animals suffering from neglect or abuse by removing them from potentially dangerous situations; offering them a fresh start, a second chance at life.-To provide a focus for learning, to educate and encourage the neutering and microchipping of companion animals along with all other welfare issues using a holistic approach.-To help people identify rescue spaces and alternatives to advertising online when no other alternative is possible.
