Barbare is a small, family owned, artisanal winery located at Tekirdağ (Thrace Region, North-West Turkey) with the headoffice located in Istanbul. We are specialized in producing high quality, Organic and Biodynamic wines from Turkey made of International grape varietals like Syrah, Grenache, Cabarnet Sauvignon, Merlot and Mourvedre. Mr. Can Topsakal, which is the owner of the winery, decided to join the exciting world of winemaking after completing his university education in France. He was inspired by his friend Mr. Arnaud, a restaurant- and winery owner in the region of Chateneuf-du-Pape. His search to find the most suitable soil and microclimate for his vineyards took him on a journey from Çeşme (the Aegean region, Mid-West Turkey) to the Tekirdağ. Subsequently, Topsakal purchased 57 acres (23 hectares) of land in Tekirdağ to establish Barbare Wines and set forth on making his dream reality with Xavier Vignon, a prominent oenologist and wine consultant for numerous Chateau Wineries in France.
