Barnabas Health Accountable Care Organization – North today announced it has been selected to participate in the Medicare Shared Savings Program (Shared Savings Program) Accountable Care Organization (ACO), a multifaceted new program sponsored by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Through the Shared Savings Program, Barnabas Health ACO - North will work with CMS to provide Medicare fee-for-service beneficiaries with high quality service and care, while reducing the growth in Medicare expenditures through enhanced care coordination. Barnabas Health acute care hospitals in northern New Jersey are Clara Maass Medical Center in Belleville, Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in Newark, and Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston. Barnabas Health is the largest not-for-profit integrated health care delivery system in New Jersey and one of the largest in the nation, annually caring for more than two million patients and delivering more than 18,000 babies. The system includes six acute care hospitals, two children's hospitals, a free- standing behavioral health center, ambulatory care centers, geriatric centers, the state's largest behavioral health network and comprehensive homecare and hospice programs. Among nationally recognized services are burn treatment; adult and pediatric cardiac surgery; heart, lung, kidney and pancreas transplant; neurology and neurosurgery; reproductive medicine and science; geriatrics; oncology; pediatrics; and women's services.
