BASE NGO is an Italian not-for profit association founded in 2021 who worked on holistic education for individual and community development. We believe in education as condition for self-development and as the most powerful tool for tackling poverty, exclusion and exploitation. Education is for us the strongest weapon to fight inequalities, to promote social cohesion and to strengthen democracy. Besides life and professional skills, the objective is to provide citizens with tools to participate in the governance process, to develop a critical perspective on their context and to respond effectively to specific requirements. The BASE NGO approach starts from a detailed needs analysis, an anthropological study of individuals and social contexts in order to design training programmes that best suit the different needs. The educational programmes are focused on raising awareness of social entrepreneurship, active citizenship, environmental sustainability, social tourism, social inclusion of people with disabilities, migrants, drop out school and all disadvantaged people. The activities implemented are aimed at empowering both young and adults citizens, with a particular attention to those that are at risk of social and economic exclusions. As mentioned above, training courses are adapted to different target groups according to needs. Staff with expertise in pedagogy and education always analyse the different educational theories and methodologies in order to find what best suits the characteristics of the target group. The association promote learning possibilities delivered during workshops, courses, projects, exchanges, transnational mobility but also online learning, virtual exchanges to offer young and adults the same possibility to develop themselves and wider transversal skills that are the key for allowing people to find a solution to their needs.
